She’ll be back of the curtain
singing, and I’ll be out in front doing… – Like in the picture?
– That’s right. – What?
– You’ve gotta do it, Kathy. This thing is too big. Of course, she’s got to do it.
She’s got a five-year contract with me. – Get over to that microphone, Selden.
– You heard him, Kathy. Now do it! I’ll do it, Don. I’ll do it. But I never want to see you again… on or off the screen. Now, come on, Lina. What are you going to sing, Miss Lamont? “Singin’ in the Rain.” “Singin’ in the Rain.” “Singin’ in the Rain.” In, uh, what key? – A-flat.

  1. 1:24 The guys singing and taking action is the funniest of the movie…

Cathy's reaction when the curtains pulled was priceless….

Cosmo's voice is cool when he came in….

  2. 2019 mirando escenas por mis KINGS BTS… esto tiene un significado !!!!! el engaño tipo mili vanilli osea la falsedad d la industria OOOWWW

  3. Interestingly, there are a lot of homages to the silent movie era actors in this film, weather intentional or not; Gene Kelly's character is very much like Charlie Chaplin was in real life. Donald O'Connor's character is much like Buster Keaton was in real life. The producer was named Roscoe, and the same man who discovered both Keaton and Chaplin was Roscoe Arbuckle. The scene where Gene Kelly's character is mobbed is mirroring an experience Charlie Chaplin had, where his fans mobbed him and tore his clothes, stole his hat, and took his cane. Harold Lloyd faced the problem with having a voice that the audience didn't like. There is a sequence where Gene Kelly's character has on a suit, a straw sports hat, and horn-rimmed glasses, giving him a striking resemblance to Harold Lloyd's screen persona. And the list goes on. I can't help wondering if it were intentional.

  4. I know it was fake but I have to point out that Lina had a beautiful stage presence. She really put emotion and pazazz into her “singing”. Can we just give her a hand for her acting skills, please???????❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  5. First time I watched this was in a college class, people always talking about Debbie Reynolds but Jean Hagen doesn't get nearly enough credit, not only did she manage to speak in that annoying voice without busting a rib from laughter or permanently damaging her vocal cords she dubbed herself because 19 year old Reynolds didn't sound mature enough (if I remember the teacher correctly).

  6. Double dubbing….
Debbie is lip-synching to Jean Hagen (Miss LuMont) actual singing voice
So, "Miss LaMont" is lip-synching to Cathy, who is lip-synching to Jean Hagen

  7. Miss Lamont won in this picture an Oscar to the best supporting actress .

How the year before, An American in Paris won a lot of Oscar, there was not to much possibility for this magnificent musical movie: Singing on the rain ?

  8. Why are they laughing?? What's funny about this? I would be surprised and a little angry at both girls for tricking me.

  9. When I was a kid I thought everyone conducted themselves this way and always got into a song and dance number. I've seen this so many times and I love it so much but nowadays, I see this portion of the movie, get nervous, and would call the movie "A Suicide and a Lawsuit"

  10. I'm singing in the rain
    Just singin' in the rain
    What a glorious feeling
    I'm happy again
    I'm laughing at clouds
    So dark up above
    The sun's in my heart
    And I'm ready for love
    Let the stormy clouds chase
    Everyone from the place
    Come on with the rain
I have a smile on my face
    I walk down the lane
    With a happy refrain
Just Singin', singin' in the rain
    Dancing in the rain
    I'm happy again
I'm singin' and dancin' in the rain
I'm dancin' and singin' in the rain

  11. I liked Gene and Debbie's performance but Donald's comedic and dance talent featured is what sold me to buy this movie and be a big fan of his..so underrated to me…

  12. I always had such a crush on Cosmo/Donald O'Connor when I was a teeny tiny tot, its hard not to really, he's very cute and the ultimate funny man – Even my Mum and Grandma had crushes on him
